Two Auburn swimmers make state swim meet

ROCKFORD – Ali Cushing and Lydia Przytulski earned another week of swimming at this past weekend’s IHSA sectional swim meet at Jefferson.

Cushing made history last year by being the first Auburn swimmer – not including divers – to advance to the state meet. She repeated the feat and will take a shot at placing in two events. Cushing qualified in both the 100-yard and 200-yard freestyles.

Two weeks ago, Cushing finished second in the 100 at the NIC-10 swim meet and won the 200-yard individual medley. She did not compete in the 200 freestyle.

This year, Cushing will have company. Senior Lydia Przytulski qualified for state in the 100-yard breaststroke. She finished second in that event two weeks ago in the NIC-10 meet.
