ROCKFORD – The Auburn Knights boys bowling team entered the week 3-1 and in third place in the NIC-10 behind the hot starts of Preston Sims, Carson Soles and Matt Siegel.

Sims is averaging 222 on the season and has the league’s highest series with an 811. That series included his first 300.

Soles is next with a steady 217 average, with a high of 217.

Siegel now is averaging 216 after winning the NIPBA preseason bowling tournament back on Nov. 23. On that day, Siegel averaged 220 over six games, including his first ever 300.

The Knights are a game back of perennial NIC-10 powers, Harlem and Hononegah, but Auburn has yet to bowl against either.

Auburn finished fifth in the NIC-10 last year with a 5-4 record. Siegel was ninth in the league in average and 14th in the IHSA state tournament.
