RPS 205 swimmers win 7 events, set 2 records at RRAC conference meet

ROCKFORD – Eisenhower’s Chris Carunana and Lincoln’s Camden Taylor were the lead highlights of a strong Saturday of swimming for Rockford Public Schools athletes.

RPS 205 swimmers won seven events in the boys and girls RRAC conference meets. Taylor won two individual titles, taking the 100-yard freestyle and then winning the 50-yard backstroke with a record time of :29.21. Carunana won the 25-yard freestyle with a record time of :13.30 and teamed up with Caleb Rundblade, Joseph Woloszyn and Jose Deleon to win the 100-yard freestyle relay.

The other RPS winners were:

  • Henry Pfeifer of the West Marshall swim team in the 25-yard backstroke.
  • Jalyn Rhodes of Eisenhower in the 25-yard freestyle.
  • Lily Esparza of West Marshall in the 25-yard butterfly.

Eisenhower took second in both the boys and girls swim meets. The West Marshall teams also both took fourth place.
