Park goes 3-2 at IHSA 2A state tennis tournament

Auburn singles tennis star Amy Park battled her way into the second day of the IHSA Class 2A tennis tournament before finishing at 3-2.

Park lost her first match, 7-6, 6-4, to Kaitlyn Strillich of Hoffman Estates. She stayed alive by beating Lilliam Dockal of Maine West, 7-6, 6-1. Park then had to survive two three-setters, beating Emma Tatar of Schaumburg and Madeline Gentry of Normal Community West to qualify for Friday’s competition.

On Friday, Park’s season came to an end in a 6-1, 6-0 loss to Lena Dogadalski.

Park’s play led Auburn to a 6-6 showing overall in the state tournament. Alyssa Trapp and Addysen Feng went 2-2 in the doubles competition and Maddy Harned and Rebecca Wang were 1-2.

Guilford’s Anju Griffeth and Mackenzie Larson also qualified for state in doubles competition. They dropped both of their matches.
