J-Hawks, E-Rabs move into second in soccer

The Jefferson J-Hawks and East E-Rabs moved into a tie for second place in the NIC-10 with Thursday night wins.

The J-Hawks won a thriller in Rockton. Jefferson rallied from two goals down to send the game into overtime. After neither team scored, the game advanced to penalty kicks. Jefferson won 4-3 on kicks after Juan Grajales saved two kicks for the J-Hawks.

East had less drama, efficiently knocking off Auburn, 3-1, at Wyeth Stadium. The balanced E-Rabs got goals from Javian Cardenas, Julio Davila and Oo Reh. The final goal was assisted by Abedi Bisoga.

The E-Rabs and J-Hawks are 6-2 in the NIC-10, trailing Boylan, which has clinched the NIC-10 title. Belvidere North is 5-2 and Guilford dropped from second to fifth with a 4-2 loss to North last night.

East, which has finished second and third in the conference the past two seasons, wraps up its season next Thursday against the Blue Thunder. Jefferson ends its season by having the last chance to end Boylan’s undefeated run on Tuesday.
