East takes early lead in NIC-10 boys soccer race

The East E-Rabs opened NIC-10 conference play with two solid wins to take the early lead in the boys soccer race.

The E-Rabs have finished second, third and second in the past three seasons. They are tied with Hononegah after beating Belvidere North, 4-1, to open conference play, and then Auburn, 2-0, on Thursday.

With scheduling restrictions eased, East has already played nine games and is off to a 6-3 start overall. Julio Davila is leading East so far with seven goals, Alejandro Montalvo has five and Jahmai Cargill has four. Sophomore Gaston Amuri leads the E-Rabs with five assists.

East plays Belvidere and Dixon next week.

Guilford won its only conference game last week, 2-1, over Auburn with both goals coming off corner kicks. The Vikings are 3-0 and play in the Woodstock North tournament this weekend.
