E-Rabs knock J-Hawks out of first in NIC-10 soccer

ROCKFORD – The East E-Rabs moved into second place in the NIC-10 by handing Jefferson its first loss of the season Thursday night.

The E-Rabs scored the only goal of the second half to win 3-2. East got goals from seniors Giome Kakozi and Diego Medina and junior Paw Lu. Abedi Bisoga added an assist. Thursday’s win was typical for East. They’ve had six different players score goals this year and no player has more than two.

East improved to 4-1 after having suffered an upset, 2-0, loss to Hononegah on Tuesday.

The loss was the first under new coach Fernando Mercado and dropped the J-Hawks to a tie for third with Belvidere North at 3-1. The Blue Thunder defeated Auburn, 5-3, Thursday at Auburn.

Guilford, the defending conference champions, improved to 3-2 with a 4-1 win over Harlem. RPS schools are off to an excellent start to the abbreviated soccer season.
