Auburn’s Schwartz wins in Whitewater

WHITEWATER – Andrew Schwartz was one of two Auburn Knights to wrestle to top-two finishes at this Saturday’s Whitewater Invitational in Wisconsin.

Schwartz went 4-0 Saturday to win the 152-pound title. Schwartz recorded two pins of wrestlers from Verona and Beloit Memorial and a majority decision over David Cushman of Whitewater. Schwartz clinched the title with a tough, 4-1, win over David Serrano of Janesville Craig.

Schwartz now is 11-2 on the season.

Lance Morgan went 4-1 this weekend to take second in the 285-pound class. Morgan pinned wrestlers from Whitewater, Clinton and Beloit Memorial to earn the top seed in bracket wrestling. There, he pinned Venicio Vasquez of Kenosha to reach the finals, where he fell to undefeated Keeanu Benton of Janesville Craig.

Morgan now is 9-2 on the year.
