Auburn wins three out of five NIC-10 tennis titles

Auburn sophomore Belen Nevenhoven dominated Saturday, winning her second straight NIC-10 No. 1 singles title without losing more than one game in any of her matches.

She was joined in the champion’s circle at Boylan High School by fellow sophomore, Paris Thompson, who won No. 2 singles by beating Belvidere’s Beau DeGennaro, 6-4, 6-2, and Vicky Wu and Alyssa Trapp, who won No. 3 doubles with a 6-2, 7-6 (14-12) win over Hononegah.

The three victories led Auburn to a second place finish in the conference.

Nevenhoven was the fourth District 205 girls player to win the No. 1 singles in the past 20 years.
