Softball, baseball and volleyball playoffs underway

ROCKFORD – The Jefferson J-Hawks picked up their second win of the season, edging East, 4-3, in the first game of the IHSA 4A baseball playoffs.

The J-Hawks play the No. 1 seed, Huntley, on Wednesday in DeKalb.

Guilford ended Auburn’s strong season with a 4-2 win on Monday. The Vikings will take on NIC-10 champion Hononegah on Wednesday at Harlem.

In softball, Auburn ended Guilford’s season with an 11-4 win. That earned the Knights a Wednesday game against Huntley at Harlem. East earned a bye and will play the host Huskies.

In boys volleyball, Jefferson, the No. 4 seed in its sectional, knocked off Auburn, 25-23, 25-17, to advance to play Hononegah, the No. 6 seed, tonight at East at 6:30 p.m.
