10 District 205 players in Rising Stars games Saturday

ROCKFORD – You have a chance to watch the final high school games of 10 outstanding Rockford Public Schools players at Rock Valley College Saturday night.

The annual Rising Stars double-header, which graduating NIC-10 stars against smaller school local players, begins at 6 p.m. with the girls game. The boys game is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for kids and seniors.

The NIC-10 girls team will include East’s Erin Stroberg, Olivia Hagerty of Guilford and Auburn’s Serenity Potter and Priscilla Donahue. Anaiah Moore will be representing Harlem. Moore spent the first three of her high school years playing at East.

The boys NIC-10 team will have six District 205 players. My’Quion Garrett, Quillin Dixon and Terry Ford will be representing Jefferson. Scott Gowan and Devonte Sims are East’s representatives. They’ll be joined by Auburn’s Yahmir Muhammad.

All six of the boys RPS players were first team All-NIC-10 this year. Muhammad was second in the conference in scoring. Garrett was conference MVP and fifth in scoring. Sims led the conference in rebounding and Gowan in three-point shooting.
