Lincoln cheer team makes 205 history

The Lincoln Middle School cheerleading team took second place in the IESA Small Team Cheer championships this past Saturday in the Peoria Civic Center.

The Loggers scored 79.33 points in the competition, finishing less than a point behind Macomb for the state title.

The showing made some District 205 history. The IESA cheerleading competition dates back to 2003 and Saturday was the first time in Rockford Public Schools history that one of our schools placed at state.

Here are the girls who made RPS history:

Eighth grade – Rehema Bisoga and Kawaia Jackson.
Seventh grade – Natika Floyd, Ashley Gonzalez, Jahaira Mercado and Amya Quinones.
Sixth grade – Isabella Ali, Ni’Caya Frazier, Gabriella Guess and Jordyn List.

The squad was coached by Veronica Seehawer and Alyssa Reyes.
