Guilford wraps up NIC-10 soccer title

ROCKFORD – The Guilford Vikings wrapped up a perfect 9-0 run through the NIC-10 in boys soccer this past week with a 3-0 win over Belvidere North and 9-0 win over Belvidere.

The Vikings scored 48 goals in conference play and gave up just four in winning the school’s second NIC-10 title in the past three seasons.

The Vikings open IHSA state tournament play Tuesday with a home game against Hononegah.

East had its second straight strong season, finishing third in the conference at 7-2.

The E-Rabs beat Jefferson, 5-1, this past week but lost to second-place Boylan, 2-1, on Thurday. Despite the strong season, the E-Rabs are just a nine seed in the IHSA regionals. East plays No. 8 Elgin Wednesday at Harlem.
