Guilford senior takes 12th in state in girls golf

ROCKFORD – Guilford senior Katelyn Sayyalinh fired a strong 2-over-par 74 Saturday to take 12th in the IHSA Class 2A girls golf tournament.

Sayyalinh opened play Saturday with a 77 and then moved her way up the leaderboard on Saturday.

Her two-day total of 151 was just four shots behind Maria Perakis of Glenview Glenbrook South for the state championship. Katelyn was the highest finisher in the NIC-10. Harlem’s Brighton Young tied for 18th with a 155.

Sayyalinh also won this year’s NIC-10 title.
