Five RPS players earn All-NIC-10 soccer nods

The East boys soccer program had its best showing since 1987 and the team was rewarded with three spots on the All-NIC-10 soccer team and its coach, Greg Fiorucci, was named coach of the year.

Senior forward Poe Reh and juniors Leonard Ngongo and Roberto Davila were named to the 17-player squad by the NIC-10 coaches. According to MaxPreps, Reh, Ngongo and Davila finished second, third and fourth in the conference scoring race. Between them, they scored 53 goals and had 31 assists.

A year after going 2-7 in the NIC-10 and 5-14 overall, the high-scoring trio powered the E-Rabs to a 7-2 conference mark and 15-7-1. East shouldn’t be a one-season wonder, either. Ngongo and Davila will be two of only three first-team all-conference players back next season.

Guilford landed two seniors on the first team, midfielder Carson Masters and defender Evan Theien.

Four more District 205 players were named Special Mention – Auburn senior midfielder Isaias Nieto, East senior goaltender Francisco Zaragoza, Guilford junior forward Brandon Harmsen and Jefferson sophomore defender Edgar Beundia.
