Eisenhower’s 8th grade girls team one step from state

ROCKFORD – The Eisenhower Eagles are one step away from the IESA State Tournament after knocking off the Flinn Falcons Monday night in the IESA Class 8-4A regional finals at Lincoln Middle School.

The Eagles, now 20-1, defeated the Falcons, 37-26. Flinn had reached the regional finals by defeating Kennedy, 32-26. Eisenhower reached the finals by knocking off West, 40-22.

Eisenhower will play undefeated Arlington Heights Thomas Wednesday night at Barrington Middle School. The game begins at 6:30 p.m.

Last week, Marshall’s 7th grade girls team reached the 7-3A state tournament, but the Mustangs fell in their first game, 21-13, to Stanford Olympia.

Rockford School District has won one IESA girls basketball title. Flinn won the 8th Grade Class 4A title back in 2015.
