East, Guilford to square off for NIC-10 lead in soccer

ROCKFORD – East and Guilford are two of the remaining three undefeated teams in the NIC-10 boys soccer race and the two square off Tuesday.

East is 5-0 in conference play, tied with Boylan Catholic, and 9-3-0 overall. The E-Rabs have scored 20 goals and given up just five in conference play. Senors Baraka Andre and Roberto Davila lead East with eight goals each.

Guilford is 4-0 and 10-4 overall. The Vikings have scored 23 goals and haven’t given up any in its four NIC-10 contests.

Tuesday’s showdown takes place at Guilford High School at 6:30 p.m.

After Tuesday’s game, the Vikings host Boylan on Thursday.

The E-Rabs don’t play the Titans until October 17.

Guilford has won the NIC-10 soccer title 12 times since it became a varsity sport, the last time being in 2017. East has won the NIC-10 title just once, back in 1986. The E-Rabs finished second last year to Boylan.
