District 205 stars shine in NIC-10 Rising Stars wins

ROCKFORD – The NIC-10 scored a pair of resounding victories in the 22nd annual Rising Stars Classics with Rockford Public Schools stars leading the way.

Auburn’s Yahmir Muhammad was the MVP in boys’ 125-114 win. Muhammad had 19 points, eight rebounds and three assists. East’s Scott Gowan and Jefferson’s My’Quion Garrett also had 18, while Quillin Dixon and Terry Ford of Jefferson each added 11. District 205 players were six of the 10 NIC-10 all-stars and they scored 85 of the 125 points.

In the girls game, Anaiah Moore was picked as MVP after scoring 20 points in the NIC-10’s 75-52 win. Moore, who will play Division 1 college basketball at Wisconsin-Milwaukee, graduated from Harlem, but she spent her first three years at East. The E-Rabs’ Erin Stroberg also had a strong game with 14 points and six rebounds.
