Auburn’s Valentine excels on field, in classroom at UIC

CHICAGO – Emily Valentine, a four-time All-NIC-10 soccer star at Auburn, was named to the District 5 Google Cloud Academic All-District Women’s Soccer Team, in early November for her work on the soccer field and classroom for the University of Illinois-Chicago.

The team is chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Valentine advances to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot.

It marks the second straight season Valentine was named to the team. The junior defender is the only player in UIC women’s soccer history to receive All-District accolades from CoSIDA.

Valentine is majoring at statistics at UIC and has a perfect 4.0 grade-point average. She’s been named to the Horizon League All-Academic Team the past two seasons.

Valentine was the only player to start all 19 of UIC’s matches this fall and led the team in minutes played. With Valentine anchoring the defense, the Flames recorded three shutouts and held teams to 15 or fewer shots nine times. She also chipped in one goal, a game-winner, and two assists.

Valentine has played 56 games for the Flames over three seasons and has five goals and seven assists.
