Auburn tennis star to play at Tennessee-Chattanooga

ROCKFORD – Quinten Nevenhoven, the defending three-time NIC-10 tennis champion from Auburn High School, signed a letter of intent Monday to play tennis next year at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga.

Nevenhoven has qualified for state the past two years. Last year, he led Auburn to the conference title with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Adam Gesmer.

WREX was on hand for the ceremony. Click here to read its report.

Tennessee-Chattanooga also trumpeted the signing on its web site.

“Quinten competes in the Midwest region, which has been historically one of the strongest sections in the country,” Tennessee-Chattanooga coach Chuck Merzbacher.  “The Chicago area produces a lot of excellent tennis players.

“This young man is super athletic and I believe he will flourish in college tennis. In addition to being an accomplished tennis player, he is an outstanding student. We are looking forward to him joining the program.”

Nevenhoven is a member of the National Honor Society and lettered in cross country as well.
