Auburn moves to 4-0 in summer league basketball

ROCKFORD – The Auburn Knights swept a pair of games for the second straight week to move to 4-0 in the East High School Varsity Summer League.

The Knights topped Lutheran, 45-37, and beat Belvidere North, 47-36.  Auburn has won all of its games by at least eight points.

The Knights play Harlem and Dixon next Monday in the final week of pool play. The league wraps up on June 24 and June 25 with a championship tournament.

East improved to 3-1 with a couple of wins Monday. The E-Rabs edged Jefferson, 52-48, and then crushed Rochelle 98-67. The point total was impressive considering summer league play is two 20-minute halves with a running clock.

Jefferson rebounded from the lost to East to edge Lutheran, 54-50. The J-Hawks are 2-2.
