Auburn clinches school’s first NIC-10 basketball girls title

Rockford Auburn had little trouble with Freeport Friday night, beating the Pretzels 82-26 to clinch at least a share of the NIC-10 girls basketball title.

When the Knights got back from the road trip, they found out Boylan had knocked off Belvidere North making Auburn the sole conference champion.

It is the first NIC-10 girls basketball title in school history. It also is just the third won by a District 205 team and the first since Jefferson in the 1990-1991 season.

The Knights will celebrate the title at its final home game of the season, Wednesday against Jefferson.
