19 things to celebrate from 2019: No. 5 – Lake runs past record

Tay’Veon Lake was a little running back who left a big imprint in the Rockford School District record books.

The 5-9, 160-pound Lake won the NIC-10 rushing title for the second straight year for East and shattered the Rockford Public Schools career rushing record along the way.

Lake’s final total of 3,095 yards soared past Guilford great Montell Clanton, who had 2,806 yards in 2002 and 2003. Lake was just the eighth District 205 running back to pass 2,000 career rushing yards.
