History of the NIC-10

Auburn ’14-15 squad one of most dominant ever

The Rockford Auburn boys basketball team from 2014-2015 was one of the most dominant champions in the history of the conference. The Knights went 16-0, matching the 2010-2011 Auburn squad of Fred VanVleet, but this Knights team was deeper, with four players among the top 15 in the conference.

Ralph “Moon” Baker was ahead of his time

There is only one Rockford-area NIC-10 athlete in the College Football Hall of Fame. That’s Ralph “Moon” Baker, a star for Rockford High School who was Northwestern’s version of Red Grange. 1991 Girls Basketball

When was the last time a District 205 team won the NIC-10 girls basketball title? That would be the 1990-1991 season when Adrienne Jefferson and Carrie Coffman led the Jefferson J-Hawks to state with a 26-4 record. The 1990-1991 J-Hawks will be inducted into the RPS Athletic Hall of Fame in 2018.

1996 Girls Volleyball

In 2016, Guilford tied for first in NIC-10 volleyball. It marked the first time that Guilford had won or shared a conference volleyball title since 1996.
