East puts three on all-NIC-10 baseball, softball teams

Two East E-Rab juniors, Brandon Folk and Scott Gowan, were named first team all-NIC-10 in baseball, while Madi Hecox made first-team all-NIC-10 for East in softball.

Folk played outfield and pitched for East, which went 10-7 in the NIC-10, good for fifth, while Gowan pitched and played shortstop.

Two other Rockford Public Schools players joined Folk and Gowan on the first team, Jefferson shortstop Brenden Alsup, and Auburn junior Zach Andrews, also a shortstop.

East’s Jordin Lee, a junior outfielder, and senior catcher Josh Peltz were named special mention.

Hecox, a senior shortstop who will play basketball and softball for Rock Valley College next school year, was the only Rockford Public Schools player to make the first team NIC-10 softball team.

Lauren Lepka, a senior outfielder for East, earned special mention.
